Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, France (1814-1879)

Eugène Viollet-le-Duc was an internationally renowned French architect. His best known to the general public works are his restorations of medieval constructions, religious buildings and castles including Notre-Dame de Paris, the château de Pierrefonds, Carcassonne, Mont Saint-Michel and the Château de Roquetaillade.

Viollet-le-Duc was also a historian, theorist, teacher, designer, professor, writer, decorator, archaeologist.
