Stilnovo
Founded in Milan on June 1, 1946, Stilnovo is a historic Italian house in the world of design. Inspired by post-war neo-rationalism, Bruno Gatta designs avant-garde creations.
In 1947, Stilnovo participated in the VIII Triennale of Milan and immediately began a communication campaign in the most important magazines in the sector. In 1949, Bruno Gatta entered the company with his brother Paolo, who had just obtained his diploma. This began a managerial career which, in a few years, would lead the company to be recognized as a reference in modern lighting material. In 1951, Stilnovo participated in the IX Triennale in Milan and the Oslo exhibition with several collections. In 1954, the new Milan headquarters opened at Via Durini 26. Stilnovo won the silver medal at the 10th Milan Triennale.
During the 1950s/60s/70s, numerous creations were created including the 2061 arm lamp awarded the Compasso d’Oro, two Saliscendi chandeliers for the new Milan Chamber of Commerce, the Buonanotte lamp, the Lampiatta, adjustable without joints nor mechanisms… Many artists work for Stilnovo: Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo, Angelo Mangiarotti, Ettore Sottsass, Marcello Pietrantoni, Roberto Lucci, Danilo and Corrado Aroldi, de Pas, d’Urbino, Lomazzi, Gae Aulenti, Piero Castiglioni, Shigeaki Asahara…
