History

Originally founded as Fratelli Saporiti in 1950, mid-19th-century Italian furniture maker Saporiti Italia is renowned for its avant-garde, enduring designs, and its furniture has inspired all who have had the pleasure of contemplating it.

Furniture designer Sergio Saporiti founded Fratelli Saporiti with the vision of creating pieces ahead of their time. By keeping abreast of the cultural changes that marked the post-war period, and drawing on the craftsmanship, durability and sensibility of Scandinavian design, Saporiti was able to meet the public’s expectations. The emphasis on the use of high-quality materials ensured that each piece of furniture could be used and enjoyed for decades to come.

Between 1960 and 1970, Saporiti collaborated with Italian designers Vittorio Introini and Alberto Rosselli, a pioneer of the industrial design movement. In the 1970s, Saporiti began another collaboration with Italian designer Giovanni Offredi.
The joint projects were a success, and the brand opened numerous international showrooms throughout the 1970s. In the 1980s, the company officially changed its name to Saporiti Italia.

Since then, Saporiti Italia has focused on furniture subcontracting and design management. Today, the company is still owned by the Saporiti family, and vintage Saporiti furniture continues to capture the imagination of collectors worldwide.
